Top Reasons Why Many Companies Use Joomla For Website Development

There are many different programs that can be used for website development or design. Choosing the one that is right for you is something that you will need to discuss with the people who are working on your site. One program that many website development companies are using to create secure and highly functional websites is Joomla.

What is Joomla?

Joomla is a content management system that is free and can be used to publish content on the World Wide Web. A content management system (CMS) is a program which allows a person to alter, add to or update their website's content.

It can be used with both text and HTML portions of the website. The development of CMS functionality made it much easier for companies to maintain their own sites rather than paying a website design or development company (or their own IT staff) to update or add information. The basic CMS can be altered using add-ons and extensions that can customize functionality and give a company a highly functional and attractive website that meets their needs.

There are other content management systems available but Joomla continues to be popular. There are many reasons for this. Here are a few of them that you may want to consider before beginning your next website development project.

Security

One of the largest benefits of using Joomla is the security that it offers. HTML based websites are often plagued by security issues that Joomla-based sites do not experience. There are coding components that are built into Joomla along with some script elements that make it difficult to jeopardize the security of a Joomla site. That is not to say that some issues do not exist but the fact is that it is the extensions and add-ons that can cause problems rather than the basic structure of the site itself.

The security that Joomla offers is due to the fact that it uses PHP code instead of HTML. It makes it easier to identify malicious code and then eradicate it, thereby removing viruses, Trojans and other undesirable elements from a site's structure. The program also offers updates and patches that can be utilized to counteract any hacks or security issues that may have developed.

How to ensure your Joomla site is as secure as possible

There are a few ways that you can ensure that your Joomla-based website development project is as secure as possible. The first is to hire a development team which is familiar with Joomla to build your site and perform regular basic maintenance.

The next step is to be very careful about which add-ons and extensions you use on your site. There are many reviews that can help you avoid problematic ones. Some tend to be much more susceptible to hacking or mal-worming than others. Speaking with your website development team will help you figure out which of the secure add-ons are right for you.

By putting a lot of thought and care into the program you will be using to build your site you will be able to figure out whether Joomla or HTML is the route that you want to take.

Top Seven Reasons Your Idea for a New Website Will Fail

Oh, the internet. An industry so young, still so new and so horribly misunderstood. We have yet to see the pinnacle of what the internet can become, but we know what it is not. Fortunes are made and lost on new websites, applications and other new IP's. Everyone is grabbing for their slice of the lucrative web pie - and you just had the most amazing, revolutionary epiphany that will set the broadband trail ablaze with people who cannot wait to type your domain name into their website browser's URL. Congratulations, you will most likely fail - In this article, and subsequent follow-up articles, I am going to tell you why.

It's an Idea, not a business

I understand that you believe you have something to offer every digital surfer in the world Everyone wants it, already does it and people are already making a ton of cash on it. The only problem is you won't make much money, at least not for a while. Be honest, you don't know how cash is made on the internet, do you?

Funding

You have made it this far, did your research and still believe in your idea - now you have to pay for it. Although you consider yourself a renaissance man and know everything digital you can't do everything, and you won't do everything - at least not correct. You can write CSS style sheets, know everything about HTML - but do you know internet design? What about digital marketing? What about ad network contacts? In a future article I will give you some leads on some great up and coming and developers/marketers that will do an amazing job at a good price; then tell you why you can't do it yourself.

It's My Site and I Know Best

Today the most successful sites are about user freedom, not what you can cram down the throats of consumers. You don't like controversy? Too bad, get thicker skin and a stronger stomach - go look at your teenage niece's profile pictures on Facebook and ask yourself if Bill Gates (yep, major investor in Facebook) personally approves of her "I got so drunk, put my head in a toilet bowl and threw up while wearing a bikini when my friend took this picture but I posted it because I think it is cool" photo? That's your competition, later in the month we can discuss the current trends in online media.

I'm going to get a great PR firm and Advertise in traditional media

Your idea is so great the masses and media will flock to it; you just need the right people. Wrong again. Just look into Press release services and save yourself some start-up cash. That TV spot you saw for some dot-com? Either they advertised on television after their site got huge, partnered with a media group or have very, very deep pockets. I will examine why traditional forms of advertising for an online property usually makes no sense until the site has grown and matured.

Revenue

This section is not for people who sell niche items (cowboy boots and the like) - but it is for the rest of you that will realize that the internet is an advertisers and sponsors sandbox. You will soon see a trickle of cash coming in from AdSense, but the real money won't come until later - but you honestly have no idea how to get to that point, do you? Since you still are on Wikipedia looking up "CPA" we have plenty of time to discuss this gem of a topic - just make sure you have plenty of funding to sustain what you have started to build.

One - Trick Pony

You have your idea, understand digital marketing, put the funding in place, realized you have to make it on the internet first, humbled yourself, have a team and ready to endure a minimum of a year without much cash. So what's your Plan B? Didn't see that coming did you? Ask yourself this one question, "Am I still arrogant enough to believe that this singular idea will make it or should I start looking at back up measures to ensure a safety net? " "What can I do with my website if my first plan fails?"

And Finally.....

Content. Content is King but it isn't cheap. Whether it is a gaming site (no, those games aren't free and if you overpopulated your site with them get ready for some traffic slip), online magazine (writer's actually like to eat - models have to buy clothes) or social media site (yes it is user driven content, but the space on a server to hold all of their assets is cash driven) - it is going to cost and it better be good. With over one hundred million websites for a person to choose from, why should they visit a site that has "value" content? There will be some in-depth discussion on this topic.

Having a new idea for a website is just the beginning - but get ready for a lot of work. Most ideas are similar to those horrible people auditioning on American Idol, and allow me to be your personal Simon Cowell. Success and failure depends on what you know, how well you put it into practice and what the market actually would like. We all want to be the next Facebook, Google or Addicting Games, it just isn't that likely to happen. So please don't quit your day job, work on ideas much more and get ready for a huge amount of rejection. This contrasts what you have already read by other web developers, but then again - they are the Paula Abdul of internet.

Good Reason To Create Your Own Website

Creating your own website is NOT that difficult!

Why should you believe me? Well, I have been Internet marketing, on and off, for almost a year now. But I only really started to get the results I have been wanting recently (3-4 figures per month).

Why is that? Because I created my own website! Simples.

Before I was using FREE websites with sub-domain names longer than that of some Welsh towns:o) These sites were also full of AdSense and affiliate links and banners. Which is okay if you are driving tons of targeted traffic per day but I was getting far from this!

My main problem was focus. I had about four different sites and as many blogs on the go as well. Which I think you will agree is far too much work for any one person. I mean, trying to drive a steady flow of traffic to all these sites was nigh on impossible for one man!

So what I done next was difficult as I had worked hard (day & night) creating these sites but I had to do it, so I SCRAPPED all my 'so-so' sites and set about focusing on one site and one site only.

My one page squeeze page!

Well I almost instantly started seeing results. I was getting sign-ups to my list!

Sure I was getting some sign-ups before but it was nothing to write home about. The money truly is in the list and the sooner you start building your own list the better!!

Why an Outdated Website Is Worse Than No Website

Besides creating a global village, the information super highway or the internet has also revved up the pace at which all human activities are carried out today. So much so, that the shelf life of any kind of information is drastically reduced in today's world. Information needs to be current and well presented to capture and retain the attention of the present day audience. These are the two most important criteria that all businesses should keep in mind when designing and maintaining their website.

Updating your web content periodically is an absolute necessity if you want to retain your audience or add new viewers. The frequency of updates depends on the kind of information and the product or service you promote through the site. For example, an airlines company cannot do with a website that offers week old information about flights, but a wooden furniture manufacturer can afford to update the online product catalogue once a week.

The design and layout of your website have great impact on how well it is presented to the audience and how easily they can use it. A simple, easy to follow layout ensures that every user quickly finds what he is looking for, both within the free website as well as in each page. An effective page layout is also one that offers the flexibility to highlight different aspects of your business at different times.

Whether it is the actual information or the overall design, your site should be easy to assimilate and navigate through for a new user. After all, the primary objective your site is to give information, enable transactions or help viewers use your other services. Making these easy ensures that more and more visitors are converted to loyal customers.

Creating Your Own Website Is Easier Than You Think

Creating your own website is easier enough, it's art of landing on the first page of Google that takes knowledge, the right action and time. In this article I'll cover the first simple steps in creating your website and understanding why it is very efficient for entrepreneurs to make their own site as opposed to hiring expensive web designers.

No one could possibly start creating their own website without knowing the definition of a website and why it is necessary to have one. A website is a group of related web pages, images, videos or other digital assets that are given relative to a common Uniform Resource Locator (URL), often consisting of only the domain name, or the IP address, and the root path ('/') in an Internet Protocol-based network.

A serious entrepreneur would always want to have more costumers in the market. Remember that customers expect that a company has a web site. These people would want to know information on a particular product and they would rush to the internet to check it out.

Promoting your product on the internet with a good professional websites is quicker, easier and more cost-effective to update than print based media. The good thing about having your own website is you can post pictures, upload videos, details and prices of your products, company information and most importantly, maps indicating the location of your company's outlets on your web-site.

Here is the step by step guide on how to create your own website.

1. Have your own domain name. Just like having a bakery shop you're domain name could be mrbakersshop.com. A domain name is not an ordinary name. It is a name that you give to your website so be sure to create one that would give an excellent remark from your customers. To do so, you need to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name.

2. Choose your web host. A web host is a company that has many computers connected to the Internet. The next part would be signing for an account to that webhost and you're good to go to your next step.

3. After giving your site an excellent and catchy domain name, choosing and signing for a web host, here comes the most fun part of creating your own website. This step would definitely give you the chance of revealing how talented you are in designing your web pages.

· First, select the right category for your domain.

· Second, choose the software you'll use to make your site. Or if you use the software we recommend - Joomla, choose a perfect template that would show a very pleasing design to your website. There are many professional templates to choose from on the web and it is up to you as to how you could start promoting your product with perfect colour combination and font style.

· Third, customize your website by dragging and dropping your logo in, adding your own text or editing what's written there. Posting pictures or videos of your product. Keep in mind that your website contains all the pages you'll need for all the contents you have for your running business. You can do anything with your website and make it something that you really dreamed of.

· Do SEO to make your website visible to the search engines.

4. Now you're done customizing your web pages, the last step would be showing your website to the world. Click the "publish" button and your website is good to go. Costumers will search on your business on Google, yahoo and other search engines.

How to create your own website is very quick and easy especially if you are using the open source software of Joomla, and take proper Joomla Training. It plays an integral part of company's promotional and marketing strategy. It creates a powerful statement about running business and securing on-line presence today is more like the best investment in the world.
