Where to Find Free Web Design

So you understand the importance of being on the internet, but don't know how to start. Are you looking for resources to build your own website? If you are, the best place to start is the internet, particularly the search engines.

The internet can provide you with access to free web design in different ways. For example, there are sites that offer web design templates that you can easily download for free. You can use these templates to start building your basic web site on. Then you can spice it up with other tools and functionalities that you can also get from the internet, usually through HTML generators.

Aside from free web design templates, there are also sites that offer tools such as open source software that let your build your website from scratch, usually through coding. For those who are not as internet-savvy as web designers are, there are also easy-does-it tools which usually come with free tutorials. These types of tools allow amateur web builders to create a more customized web site than what is possible with the usual website templates. These allow them to add on certain functionalities, or alter web site structures.

Finally, there are also other design tools that complement and spice up an existing website. These include html generators that you can use to generate a gadget that you can publish in your web site. It may also include companies that offer free hosting services, so you won't have to invest on a server before you can build your own website.

1. After building your website, advertise, advertise, advertise. Remember this you can have a beautiful new home you just moved in, but if you do not tell anyone it was there, no one would see it. Well it is the same with your website. If you do not advertise, no one will ever come to your new website.

If you do not have the time you can pay someone to do the work . You can search on Google for help. Google has a website that gives any kind of information you need.

3. Get into social networks which is an excellent way to advertise. Groups like Google, yahoo, and others. These groups discuss just about any kind of product or niche that you are interested in. I like twitter, face book and my space.

4. Give away something free on your website. You can write an e-book and give it away, or free newsletters for your customers to respond to. Make sure you have an email responder on your website.

5. Write articles and submit them to different sites. This is one of the fastest way to get noticed by others opt in subscribers list.

6. Build a relationship with your subscribers. Always respond back to your customers. Let them know that your care about their concerns.

7. There is all kinds of information online about building a website. Search the web often. Listen to the the online videos that show you how step by step.

8. Everyday do a little something to promote your site. Even if it is just reading more information. You have to do a little something and eventually you will have less work to maintain you site.

9. You can optimize your website with the right key words. This will give you higher ranking in the search engines.

10. You can also do Google AdWords. This is where you can advertise for a small fee and your site can get seen if you follow their instructions.

These are just some of the ways I found helpful and I wanted to past it on to some newer website owners.

Why Bother to Create a Web Site?

Indeed there is a world other than this that we belong to, and that is the World Wide Web. The public who used to read the morning papers have dramatically shifted to having coffee as they browse news pages in the internet right after they get out of bed. Students do their research through it. Even kids are glued playing online games. People meet here and get married. What else do not happen in the WWW? And if everything happens here, would you not want to have your own niche in it? Would you not want to create a web site and belong?

Many have realized how powerful it is to have their own space in the cyberworld and every day, millions of people make and improve their own pages where they can freely do what they want to.

Let us explore further why people bother to create a web site:

  • It's in - Everybody has it. Why won't I have one? People think it is cool nowadays to have your own webpage and you definitely don't want to be left behind. Even newborn babies have their own blogs and galleries! No parents would want their children to be left out so they make sure that their kids jump to the bandwagon too.
  • It's for personal satisfaction - Having your own space in the cyberworld gives you freedom to express yourself. You can navigate your pages and make them appear as you want them to. You can put contents that you believe are important. You can say what you want, when you want, and how you want.
  • It levels up the competition - If you are a business person, you could step it up a notch by being able to promote your business to a wider public, which is practically the whole world, and not just cater to the people you could physically reach with your hands. Besides, it also makes your company a little more prestigious. People usually ask whether a certain business establishment has a website of their own. If it hasn't, they tend to look the other direction. If they are not in the internet, where are they?
  • It's a cheaper medium of advertisement - Your webpage is available round-the-clock and you do not have airtime fee to pay at each moment a person visits it. This is much way economical than broadcast or print media.
  • It's an accessible source of information - There are computers connected to the Internet all around the world and there is practically no place in cyberspace that you can not go to. Come hell or high water, as long as you are connected, you can reach people and they can reach you.

We are never going back to the time when there was no internet. Internet is the future and the wise way to make sure that you have a place in that future is to create a web site now and enjoy its reaping profits tomorrow.

Succeed Online With a Website

Everyday more and more people look to the Internet for many different reasons, the main reason being to generate some type of income. Out of those people there are only a very very small percentage that actually succeed online, whatever their goals may be. If you think that most people fail because they don't have the necessary skills required then you're wrong. Succeeding online with a website is not hard but there are things you must know in order to do so.

Why People don't Succeed

There are many reasons why most people seem to fail when they attempt to make a website. A big one is that a lot of people start creating a website with the idea that it's going to be quick, easy and make them a lot of money. Making money online is far from quick and easy is not the right way to describe it. The majority of these people won't even get their website finished and the ones that do start to wonder why they aren't making any money yet. The saying "Build it and they will come" does not apply to websites at all, building a website is only the beginning, getting visitors is the next step which can be a long slow process.

Take Constant Action

Another reason people fail is the old saying "I'll do it tomorrow" or "I'll start tomorrow", then tomorrow comes and again "I'll start tomorrow" after awhile it's been months and you haven't started. The key to finishing something is to "Do it today", I have seen many people get a good start on their website then it gets left untouched for weeks, this behavior almost always leads to failure. Work towards your goals everyday (even if it's only a small task each day) and you slowly but surely build you way to the finish.

Once you have finished building your website you need to do the same amount or even more work towards building traffic. The amount of Traffic you have can pretty much determine the success of your website. A Website will earn no money at all if you don't have any visitors, income will scale with Traffic. So even once you have finished building your website you need to take constant action towards building traffic.

Don't Build for Money

Another mistake to avoid, building your website around generating money will ultimately make your website fail or do poorly. You don't want to build your website with the only thought in your head be to make money. Think about this; they way you make money is by your visitors performing a certain action, if you design your website fully towards making money it won't be very appealing to your visitors and you will most likely receive less of that "certain action". You will have more visitors leaving your website before performing that "certain action" which makes you money.

You want to design your website around your visitors, this will increase the amount of money you are capable of earning and also grow your website a lot faster. When your website is designed for your visitors, they tend to stay longer, like your website more and are more willing to buy a product you recommend or click ads on your website. Also if you genuinely help your visitors they are more likely to tell their friends about your website and other website are more likely to link to your site. From that you should be able to see that your chances of succeeding/making money will increase if you build your website for your visitors, not money.

Understanding the Struggle

Lastly the key to success with your website is to understand the struggle and how long it can actually take to become successful. You can't expect your website to become successful and make you millions within a few months after you finish building it, a lot of people finish their website and see no money coming in or visitors and just say "This doesn't work" and give up. You need to understand that it can take quite a bit of unpaid/no result work before you start seeing a return and increase in visitors. Stick with it and work on your website everyday and you will eventually start seeing the results you want, it may take a few weeks to start seeing some results but it can also take a few months or more. The more work you put into it will affect the amount of time it takes to grow.

Think about this; when you actually do start getting an income and your traffic is growing if you keep working at it, it can only increase. Your Traffic and income will only increase each week, as long as you keep working towards it. How would it feel to get a pay rise every week for the rest of your life, trust me it's a good feeling.

A quick note: Always learn, keep reading information about building traffic and about the niche of your website. Keep expanding and improving your own website, once you reach a goal set new ones and work towards those.

Simple Design Concepts

Web design theory at it's most basic level can be broken down into a few different steps. These steps when taken together add up to successful design virtually every time, maybe not mind blowing, but definitely better than the first time HTML should reasonably expect.

Consistency is king. By that I mean a website that has glaring changes from page to page, changes such as major color shifts, body text in a different font, of virtually any of thousands of things that make the "jump" between pages feel un-natural, is by definition a bad website. If your going to have a bad design then at least make it consistent throughout it will improve the overall effect of the site by a large percentage, and help to offset the weak design itself. Always be consistent as possible on fonts, colors, and layout, if the color must change from page to page then so be it but make it feel like part of the design and not a mistake. Font and layout shouldn't change for any reason they are too jarring when they change form page to page, color can be worked to feel natural, font and layout are much less adaptable.

Standard Navigation is also a major player. When the navigation of a site is confusing, i.e. moves around and is lacking of pages etc, the site generally speaking is regarded as useless, annoying, or too much trouble all of which amount to a user abandoning your site. Navigation should remain the same on every page through out a site, being in the same area and consisting of the same buttons, it also should be able to direct a user to every page within the site and back again without the user having to fear getting "lost" in the site. Navigation is underrated in importance and if you keep in mind that when you visit a site you like to be able to get around with ease you'll easily master the concept of standard navigation.

Content makes conversions. Good content will excuse a lot of flaws in design, so if your design is lacking make up for it with great content and hopefully your visitors will stay long enough to read what you have to say.

If worse comes to worse and you follow my guidelines by having a consistent, easily navigable site, with good content and still your site doesn't convert, don't be afraid to get a professional designers' opinion about what your lacking, cause this article is just the bare buttons as far as design is concerned.
