Simple Design Concepts

Web design theory at it's most basic level can be broken down into a few different steps. These steps when taken together add up to successful design virtually every time, maybe not mind blowing, but definitely better than the first time HTML should reasonably expect.

Consistency is king. By that I mean a website that has glaring changes from page to page, changes such as major color shifts, body text in a different font, of virtually any of thousands of things that make the "jump" between pages feel un-natural, is by definition a bad website. If your going to have a bad design then at least make it consistent throughout it will improve the overall effect of the site by a large percentage, and help to offset the weak design itself. Always be consistent as possible on fonts, colors, and layout, if the color must change from page to page then so be it but make it feel like part of the design and not a mistake. Font and layout shouldn't change for any reason they are too jarring when they change form page to page, color can be worked to feel natural, font and layout are much less adaptable.

Standard Navigation is also a major player. When the navigation of a site is confusing, i.e. moves around and is lacking of pages etc, the site generally speaking is regarded as useless, annoying, or too much trouble all of which amount to a user abandoning your site. Navigation should remain the same on every page through out a site, being in the same area and consisting of the same buttons, it also should be able to direct a user to every page within the site and back again without the user having to fear getting "lost" in the site. Navigation is underrated in importance and if you keep in mind that when you visit a site you like to be able to get around with ease you'll easily master the concept of standard navigation.

Content makes conversions. Good content will excuse a lot of flaws in design, so if your design is lacking make up for it with great content and hopefully your visitors will stay long enough to read what you have to say.

If worse comes to worse and you follow my guidelines by having a consistent, easily navigable site, with good content and still your site doesn't convert, don't be afraid to get a professional designers' opinion about what your lacking, cause this article is just the bare buttons as far as design is concerned.

Web Designing - Rules For Good Performance

A web site created for business purposes should be optimized to ensure good performance. A few guidelines to achieve this are listed here.

Avoid Splash pages
Splash pages are the front pages of a web site. It usually displays 'Welcome' or 'Click here to Enter' messages. They are just showpieces and have no real use. When users reach this page, they may skip the site without even seeing what it has to offer. The best solution is to avoid Splash pages and use an enticing home page to welcome visitors.

Don't go overboard with banner advertisements
Regulars and even the occasional Net users know that the trash banner advertisements are to be disregarded. You will end up wasting precious space by including them. Instead, include information-rich content with related affiliate links. This will satisfy the visitors and increase your sales, without pushing too hard.

Navigation should be easy and lucid
Avoid complicated Flash-based menus and multi-tiered dropdown menus. If the visitors are not experienced computer users, they will just move away, when confronted with complex menus. A precise navigation menu with clarity is the need of the hour.

Current location of the user to be displayed with clarity
This is very important when the site has many pages. After browsing for long, visitors may get lost and won't reach the information they are searching for. When they find the situation impossible to unravel, they will leave the site and look elsewhere for the information.

Don't include audio
Audio is a double-edged sword that is best avoided. It is interesting for the first-time user. However, those using the site for longer duration will find the repetitive audio boring and irritating. If at all audio is necessary, provide controls like mute and volume adjustments.

The Evolution of Custom Web Development

Web design has come a long way in the past fifteen years. What started out as a simple scrawling of black text against a computer screen has merged into an amazingly complex art form, of which an entire industry is now dedicated. It is impossible to do an Internet search for web page hosts and tools without being directed to a seemingly never-ending supply of custom web development studios. It is a testament to the way that business now functions that ecommerce is just an every day part of a companies marketing.

The creation of those custom web development studios can be tracked directly along the line of the evolution of the Internet, where we went from the archaic style offered by Mosaic, to what it now a competitive market for browsers and basic layout design. It has moved from a personal level to one dominated by the corporate world, and that shift in priority has ushered in a new era of complexity on the World Wide Web.

Web development began in earnest with the use of HTML, a coding originally used for the sharing of scientific documents online. Though it had that specific purpose in mind, it's ability to be easily rewritten and continually changing has made it a staple in the evolving industry of Internet design. This has led to a near-constant change in the requirements and capabilities of this coding, which led to XHTML 1.0, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standard for website development.

But for those who have no experience in basic or advanced coding which used to be necessary to create a functioning web page, there was (and is) an alternative. That alternative is Tableless CSS, which uses CSS alone to develop a webpage, rather that tables and coding needed in HTML, which would be better suited for those working within a custom web development studio, rather than the layman creating a basic page. While this method has been widely criticized as ineffective, it is still commonly used today.

The final stage of evolution was in creating hosting tools that allowed the user to easily set up and maintain a website using the program offered through the site itself. A good example of this is what used to be Geocities, where everything needed was provided. Rather than having to use coding yourself, it would allow you to create a page which was then converted to HTML on it's own, allowing you to use only the basic functions. An advanced version was available for those who knew basic HTML.

It is clear to see that the Internet has change drastically since the early 90's when it became a more popular tool. But it is in the evolution of web development that it is truly obvious the effect that those changes have had. A demand for a market in custom web development studios and services has enhanced that growth, and it is clear that the future of how we communicate, interact, do business, and live will be forever changed in the flow of that expanding technology.

A custom web development studio will be able to achieve the requirements for proper web design. If you need Corporate web Design Consulting feel free to visit Creative Web Design Consulting by [MN]interactive.com.
